Almost last minute decision to go out for my birthday dinner……my wonderful daughter recommended Pichet and booked the ‘early bird’. I was not disappointed ……in fact, was due to go there about 2 yrs ago but it was temporarily closed for redecoration and didn’t have the opportunity to go there since! Although the early bird had limited choice, basically three starters, three mains and three desserts, they were all very exciting and inviting! Two of us had the pea and fennel soup served with feta cheese which was creamy, velvety and absolutely delicious, the other member of our group had cod fishcakes, superbly presented. We had two shoulder of lamb dishes and salmon risotto for mains – I am not doing them any justice at all by not describing them exactly as on the menu but suffice to say we were all well pleased and the different flavours coming through, and presentation were top notch! We chose a bottle of Cote du Rhone which was an excellent vintage at an even more excellent price at €26.50! The desserts were so delicious, I’m salivating at the thought of them…..chocolate cookie and cream and a lemon concoction served with tiny little meringues and what looked like fresh freeze dried raspberries!
Highly recommend this restaurant, very convenient parking in Trinity Street Car Park literally around the corner – I’m already looking forward to going back. I would only deduct a point for the hurried service – I felt it was too quick between courses and didn’t allow the diner time to relax – perhaps it was due to the fact that they wanted the ‘early birders’ finished as quickly as possible to free up tables, however, there were still quite a few vacant tables when we were departing.
