There doesn’t seem to be much new to write about Pichet – most previous reviewers seem to have hit the nail on the head with it, but throw my hat in the ring I shall!
Decided to avail of the Early Bird menu yesterday to celebrate my mother’s birthday, and we had a truly lovely evening.
You can get two courses for €22, or three for €27, so if you want to experience the quality of this restaurant without the usual price tag, get in there early!
I had the pea and fennel soup to start which was creamy and flavoursome, then the lamb and mash with tomato and and capers for main – the lamb was succulent and not too fatty, literally melted in my mouth, and the cookies and cream for desert – vanilla icecream with macaroon-like cookies surrounding a delicate vanilla mousse.
The food was truly spectacular.
I would give this place a 4.5 stars if I could, however as I can’t, and I’m not comfortable with awarding a 5 star rating, I shall go with 4. The main reason for this would be the service which wasn’t quite on point. Despite being very lovely, the staff were a little distant and not as warm as you would like. Also, we never received any bread on the table, and the coffee came out after the desert instead of with it as requested. Minor details, but details all the same!
