We decided to try Pichet as part of Dine in Dublin. The service was a little strange to start off with. The menu was different to the one advertised which I was disappointed by as the desserts didn’t sound as appetising, the menu on the night was the same as their standard early bird. When I ordered, the waitress asked me which menu I was ordering from because the desserts are different, I looked down at them and replied “but they are the same?”, she replied “yes..”, I said “what?”, she said nothing.. Weird.

Anyway, I went for the artichoke soup, which was really amazing, pretty much all the stars are just for the soup. Followed by the chicken with black pudding, the pudding tasted underdone, the chicken was nice and tender but the dish was kind of dull and not filling enough for a main, you have to order a side with it. For dessert I went for yogurt parfait with rhubarb sorbet which was tart and refreshing.

My fellow diners also enjoyed their meals, although one ordered a glass of Rioja and left it because it was cheap/bad wine. There was also a group of lads in from the rugby who had had a bit to drink and had to get up from the table every five seconds, the restaurant is not well laid out for this constant traffic and the backs of our seats were bumped fairly often, the group was also pretty noisy, with singing and shouting, I don’t think it was really appropriate and the staff could have asked them to keep it down.

Overall not the best value for money but good standard of food, service is hit and miss and the atmosphere on the night wasn’t for me.
