Pichet is friggin’ dull.
I mean that in a culinary sense, my dinner buddies where rock stars but by Christ was the food just dull.
For me Pichet represents the old ‘take your boss/mistress to dinner’ set….fat old men in bad shirts, expensive watches, big cars and no clue what exciting food might actually be.
Dublin is exploding right now with amazing places to eat, simple but utterly astonishing fooderies….Pichet is still stuck circa 1987.
Portions at Pichet are miserable, pricing is at the higher end and while taste, flavour and execution are all ok….that’s all they are….just ok.
For clarity I had steak tartar to start which should have had me on the edge of my seat ‘forking’ anyone who fancied sharing…..nope, raw burger meat is my best description. Duck followed. My pals all had steak, looked great, tasted great…..get it anywhere….maybe better.
If you go to Pichet bring vibrant friends and don’t go for the food experience, there isn’t one.
