Pro: Scallop Appetizer, Pork Cheek Entree
Hands down. Favorite meal of the trip.
Cute unassuming corner bistro located downtown, the decor is clean, modern, and spacious. With fantastic service, we had a small army of servers checking in regularly. The owner was also there and went around to most of the tables to check on everyone.
Here are some of the favorite dishes:
Scallop appetizers with Mushroom Vinaigrette, Potato Mousseline, Garlic Butter, Crispy Pancetta – Worthy of ocean royalty, the appetizer contains three scallops perched on top of scallop shells with a gentle foam froth, reminding one of ocean waves. The mushrooms paired wonderfully with the caramelized scallop and helped bring out even richer notes. The throne of creamy potatoes added a wonderful mouthfeel, crowned by the crispy pancetta.
You would expect that to be the pinnacle of the meal, until you come to the pork entree…
With Pork Cheek, Crispy Belly, Morteau Sausage, Sauerkraut, Turnip, Pork Jus, this dish looks adorable. The pieces come separated and the crispy pork belly is topped with a salted oatmeal topping. Fork tender, absurdly flavorful, holy-he77-this-is-amazing cheek that makes bacon look like baloney, complimented by crispy belly.
Whew! Let me take another breath just thinking about it.
